On 27 March, more than a hundred architects, interior designers, decorators and professionals from the sector gathered at the Cubiñá Cubiñá showroom, in the emblematic Casa Thomas in Barcelona, to attend a very special event: the first Vondom Design Summit. With this new initiative, Vondom gives shape to a series of meetings that are born with the objective of sharing ideas and talking about outdoor design.
Vondom Design Summit: the creative universe of Eugeni Quitllet
This inaugural edition was dedicated to the creative universe of Eugeni Quitllet and his long-standing collaboration with Vondom — a partnership spanning over a decade and resulting in some of the brand’s most recognisable pieces, especially those created through injection moulding: functional, durable, and emotionally resonant.

The designer, who currently lives in New York, shared his perspective on design, his journey with Vondom, and the technical and creative challenges behind each product. “Designing is not a profession, it’s an attitude,” he said at one of the most intimate moments of the evening. “Design shouldn’t be something you just look at, it should be something you live.”
Among his most compelling insights, Quitllet defended plastic as a sustainable material — durable, resilient, and able to stand the test of time without losing beauty or function. “What’s more ecological than a product that stays with you for a lifetime?” he asked a captivated audience.

Africa Padded Armchair: a new take on the essential
One of the key moments of the Design Summit was the exclusive unveiling of the Africa Padded Armchair, a new addition to the iconic Africa CollectionThe piece introduces upholstered comfort while maintaining the formal sensuality so characteristic of Quitllet’s work. A new gesture of softness and warmth for outdoor living.
“The Africa Padded Armchair is like embracing the original shape with a gentler touch. We give the body not just a seat… but a place to stay.” – Eugeni Quitllet
Madison: lightness, balance and contemporary styling
Also introduced was the Madison Collection, a play of contrasts between the rational and the emotional, which is committed to lightness of lines, formal simplicity and a contemporary approach to outdoor furniture. Madison was born from the desire to offer flexible and elegant pieces, capable of adapting to different lifestyles without renouncing the creative essence of Quitllet.
“Madison is like a tailored suit that adapts to every occasion. Modern and classic at once — like New York: diverse, vibrant, with no single way to be.” – Eugeni Quitllet

The first Vondom Design Summit concluded with an informal cocktail party, where attendees were able to chat among pieces of design, toast to new ideas and enjoy the friendly and playful atmosphere that defines the spirit of the brand.
Barcelona was, for one night, the epicentre of the most essential and vibrant design.
